heartbreak sucks

i want to write a big ol' long entry about heartbreak, but i don't have it in me. it just hurts, for now.

it really sucks the older you get...and the more sure you were of it not happening to you ever again...and the more compatible the guy you were with is...and the more people that were involved...and the more...etc, etc, etc.

it really sucks that it was my choice because i couldn't make my heart do what i wanted it to.

here's to 6 months of a date free life! here's to digging deeper into me " only me!
wish me luck!

in closing: Love Stinks, yeah, yeah.

minnesOta

OH, my gosh, eh...the accents i heard this past weekend were out of this world. it wasn't quite Fargo, but if you've seen North Country...that's where i grew up " the accent i heard all weekend long.

on my way to Ely i stopped at the grocery store to pick up my dad's birthday cake. i giggled all the way through as i listened to, "oh, gawsh, don'tchaknow," and things of the sort. WOW.

i then giggled at my mom, dad " little brother as they had a discussion about a home project in their Fargo way. i wish i would have recorded some of it.

unfortunately, my sister got back at me " made fun of the way i say "town." apparently i have a bit of a southern twang now.

it’s OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i finished my accounting final last night! it was three hours of numbers " confusion, but it's OVER. wooooooo!

i don't think it went very well...i felt pretty clueless through most of it...but it's over...and i'm sure i passed, at the very least...so now we wait for grades to be posted.

hopefully i never ever have to step back into that accounting class again! wooooooooo!

another “first” in coaching

there's no easy way to say this - today one of my girls peed herself while on the court playing.

suddenly there were puddles of "water" on the floor that we had to urgently wipe up to keep playing. i grabbed a sweatshirt, as it was the only thing i had...another coach threw me a towel. one of my players got on her knees to wipe it up while i used my foot on the towel (lazy 'cause of age). with sheer terror in her eyes, she looked at me " said, "kristie, it smells like pee." i couldn't help but giggle, but i told her it must have come from the ceiling " she should stay quiet about it so no one feels uncomfortable.

i found out who it was after 'cause someone saw her butt was soaked...but she hung with us for the rest of the day....even though she smelt like urine. i'm impressed by that. i'm also somewhat impressed with the fact that she loves to play so much she wouldn't ask me to go use the restroom. (that also seems kinda stupid, but she's 13) i'm also impressed with the other girls who never said a word to her (as far as i know). that's maturity.

what the????

>With the shakeups that have gone on over the past week for the Twins, including the demotion of Kyle Lohse to Triple-A, the players and coaching staff felt an increased importance to make sure that everyone was on the same track.

What's happening to the Twins? Kyle Lohse going to triple-a??? I don't get it. Grrrrrrr.

At least I'm one game closer to a free six-pack after last night's shelacking! Just one more win in this interleague series and I'll be enjoying a midwestern six-pack on Brewers-fan.

Minnesota Twins

i finally got the logo for my phone's screensaver " background, ordered me up a license plate frame and have my jerseys ready to be worn. two more weeks, and the boys will be in town!

we even have tailgating plans...i'm thrilled.
one of my friends said he's never seen a "minnesota twins" license plate frame in california. that makes me even happier.

hip-check

i just had to hip-check the dang vending machine 'cause my M&M's wouldn't fall.
talk about a potential tragedy. i already paid $.80 for them!

rain

God loves me, and here's how I know -
it's sunny " 80 weather here in the Bay Area, yet, it's supposed to rain this weekend. it's also my last weekend of studying for this semester, and i was dreading the fact that i had to spend the whole weekend inside studying while the sun was shining ever-so-brightly. now i can study inside while it showers outside...i love it.

word

last week a friend asked me what one word i would choose to describe myself. i still haven't come up with it...

i hope this doesn't last as long as my quest to find the perfect song to walk up to bat to.

completed on 5/17:

gangsta

my day was made when a white boy rode by my house on his bike beltin' out gangsta music that was hopefully playing through his ipod.

electrician work

my daddy's business has a website now...he's quite proud, and i am, too. they even got a cable modem for the internet instead of using dial-up. i see many more emails coming my way in the future...

it's cool when parents rock. and he started training my li'l bro in so someday he can take over the business. go family!

Grey’s Anatomy

I'm surprised I'm still alive today...my stress level has been so high the past couple nights while watching Grey's Anatomy, I wasn't sure I'd make it. What a freaking awesome show.

I thoroughly enjoyed that everyone on the show had some sort of major drama in life. Unfortunately, I don't agree with most of it in a moral sense - Izzy shoulda never almost killed Denny (guess I ain't the romantic I thought I was), Meredith " Derek should NOT have hooked up, the Chief shouldn't have cheated on his wife in the first place, Cristina should have sucked it up " been there for her man, etc. However, I think George is great " am ok with the new girlfriend...though she's a bit tough. Alex also stepped up " seemed like a decent guy. Interesting. Poor Chief's wife, Addison " vet...they're caught with messed up hearts.

I can't wait until next season! In the meantime, I think I'll find the first season to see how it went...

lessons on lunch

slowly i am learning how to bring lunch in to work.

today's lesson:
'tis better to take 3 minutes to get your salad into the fridge right away than to eat warm lettuce for lunch.

encouragement

When you feel that nobody loves you,
Nobody cares for you,
And everyone is ignoring you,
You should really ask yourself...

Am I TOO sexy?

observations from my weekend

- Orange Friday at the Giants game creates a fabulous array of orange all in one place. I hope LauraOrange could be there some Friday.
- Barry Bonds is pretty lazy...and not all that good. Plus, it sucks that he didn't create history in front of me.
- The volleyball team I coach is unpredictable. We started the morning strong, then crashed for the afternoon " played superduperpoorly. And I can't keep taking it to heart.
- Other coaches can be more immature than my team. For the first time ever, I had to confront another coach about the way she treated my girls. Of course, she denied the whole thing, but hopefully she'll think twice before she does it again.
- Predictable weather rules when it's 80 " sunny.
- Writing a research paper is fun, yet tiring on the brain. And my adult ADD doesn't help.
- If I'm going to break this depression, it's up to me. I can't rely on others. I'll run instead of sleep, think of all the awesome things in my life instead of focusing on the negative, read more, and work my butt off in everything I do. If that doesn't fix it, I'll see a doctor.

flip-flop friday

i'm getting all sorts of crap for wearing flip-flops today. apparently, i haven't made it known to be an ok thing in cupertino. and i thought it was stuffy in mountain view...

josh, i'm moving over the hill soon.

ps i LOVE that i no longer have to check the forecast. chances are: 80 " sun!

mcdonald’s

if you take a road trip, mcdonald's has a restaurant locator tool. you could stop at every mcd's along the way.
i think this is awesome.

baseball!!!

i get to go to my first MLB game of the year tonight! woooo!
i'm really quite excited. it's a huge rivalry game " i'm taking my boy, who loves the rivals...and silly barry may meet/beat a record...and it'll just be great fun!
it's even warm up in the city. yay, baseball!

aloe vera

aloe vera is the most amazing thing in my life right now. after just a couple applications last night, my sunburn feels fine " the blisters are gone.

now to avoid the peeling process...

sand volleyball, part 2

i'm working from Mountain View today, out of the same building i used to be in. here's an update to this post:

'tis ok when the hotties from work take their shirts off to play volleyball.

(feel better, fellas?)

on another note - i hope i've finally learned to not fight with the sun. for some reason, i think i'm invincible " never get sunburnt. unfortunately, the sun always proves me wrong.

morning

after a nice, long run this morning i am sitting on my front porch, working. i love my life.
of course, not having to work would be better...but this is a-ok.

hairstyles

i made an interesting observation in class tonight -
i'm forced to believe that one's personality can be figured out merely by their hairstyle.

my train of thought:
i wonder what people think of me, since i don't say anything " don't talk to anybody.
i wonder if they realize i've got a pretty solid personality.
why don't i talk to them? they're just peeps, too.
maybe by looking at me, they know i'm ok.
hmm...what do i think of everyone else?
wow...if you look at hairstyles, you can tell a lot about a person.
that dude over there has the geeky, comb to the side hairstyle = geek
that dude has the long, combed back hairstyle = wannabe different/dork
that chick's hair is perfect = anal perfectionist
that chick's hair is plain " simple = low maintenance

point proven? check out the hairstyles around you.

dying accent

i'm losing my accent. i realize it's happening, yet, i don't fight it as hard anymore. you see, when i pronounce things the "minnesOta way" it generally stirs up discussion. sometimes i want the peeps to focus on what i'm saying " not how i'm saying it, so i adjust my speech.

now that i'm thinking about it, i don't like it. i gotta stick to my roots!

recent examples:
i pronounce "hammock" like its spelt. others pronounce it "hamuck." now who do you think is right in this situation?
at practice, i started saying "shag" instead of "shAg." one of the girls called me out on it, 'cause she now says "shAg" to be cool like me. grrrrrr.

confused

i can't recall ever meeting a person who is ok with the fact that traffic slows down whenever there's an accident - even if it's on the other side of the highway. and, of course, every person i ask swears they don't slow down - they purposefully look straight ahead " stay with traffic as much as possible.

why, then, does traffic always slow when there's an accident? i understand the train wreck concept...we just can't look away... hmmmmmm...perhaps i just have to accept that there is no possible way for a person to drive by an accident without looking, even if they don't want to look. accidents will always cause traffic to stop, no matter what.

fascinating.

Flip Flop Fridays!!!

they've returned!!! woooo! i love hot " sunny weather.
and i got to bust out my lime green, sparkly flip flops 'cause it's Cinco de Mayo! woooo!
party on, peeps!

spreading the love…

for the first day in months, i feel like me. i'm happy and superexcited about life. i can't kick the smile that's there for no major reason. i mean, i have a good job that brings in some cashola, a budget to make sure i use that cashola wisely (well, somewhat wisely), awesome friends, a superawesome boyfriend, a great family...but i can't put my finger on why exactly i'm in such a good mood.

i'll run with it. and i also want to share it...if you're reading this, SMILE!!! life is good.

aging

further evidence that i'm getting old...

i've always signed up for the cheapest " lowest insurance possible because i just don't use it much. it's worked out to my advantage so far. unfortunately, i recently had a root canal and discovered how expensive it is to do so. i have an awesome dentist who's covering my butt and budget by holding off a year on putting a cap on, but if she hadn't told me, i'd be paying a bunch out of pocket - all because i chose the cheapest " lowest coverage dental insurance. oy.

next year, i'm signing up for the ultimate in coverage. eyes, teeth " health.

paper

i gotta write my first paper for grad school this week. i'm a bit stressed - i admit it. i really don't know where to start. i have a bunch of articles " books about a broad topic - difficult conversations - and i'm stuck. i need to narrow my topic down to a problem that deals with managing/developing people and then come up with a solution to it.

my top two choices:
performance management of a poor performer
making group decisions - having effective meetings

if anyone has a 8-12 page paper i can borrow, that'd be awesome.

myspace

who hangs on myspace with all the teenyboppers like me? i need more friends!
(it's tough to find me...i'm undercover...but i'll still be your friend!)
