Saga of the ATM

as i walked up to the atm, i realized it was beeping at me. immediately, i was disappointed that it was probably out of service and my errand running would be worthless...but then i realized that there were twenties sticking out and it was trying to tell someone to take them. i was faced with a dilemma...

after looking for the hidden cameras, i called roommate. she & friend suggested i leave a note for the 'owner' to email me with a description of what he/she forgot. if i didn't hear anything for three days, i could treat them to wings.

i got an email tonight. i hope to return the cash asap. phew...guilty conscience averted.

resorting to bribery

this year i'm having a rough time getting my team to talk while they're playing. you know, calling the ball, yelling for help, cheering each other on...they're almost silent. i've talked to them about it, i've yelled at them, i've almost cried...nothing works.

yesteday alex hit me with a great idea. she said, "if you offer a reward at the end of the day to the one who talks the loudest, i bet it'd work." brilliance! she said a small reward would work, but i wanted to make sure they'd actually fight for it...so after talking to assistant, i decided $10 to itunes would do the trick...and did it ever! i had girls yellin' for balls, yellin' from the sidelines, yellin' for no reason at all...it was great!

i also bribed a girl with $1 to get her first serve in. it worked.

creative coaching, i call it.

back to the Twins

this is a pretty great article on the coming season from the CityPages Sports column. enjoy!

the boys are coming to Oakland on april 22 and i've got a sweet seat thanks to CA mom.

sidenote: whining about sickness seems to have helped...i'm almost 90% healthy today, ready to go coach some 13 year olds.

end of sickness

i thought being knocked out for three days straight was rough...but this "i'm almost healthy and can almost do things" is much rougher. i'm done with this laying around stuff.

plus, i haven't been able to use my new Garmin on a run, yet.

hegman's are running...kinda

this year the hegman family decided to plan vacation around whether i made it in to grandma's half-marathon, or not. it's a lottery - if i made it in, we vacation in june. if i didn't, we vacation in august. easy enough. (i didn't really wanna get in...)

i got in. we vacation in june. i invited the family to run the 5k the night before to get everyone involved...then i registered my older bro & sis-in-law as a birthday gift. it was a surprise to bro - heehee. sis-in-law is determined to be a runner.

unfortunately, the 5k sold out before the rest of the fam signed up. i guess we have a bunch of cheerleaders this year.

minnesota at the end of june. it better warm up!

happy easter!

i think i'm back to the blogging world...we'll see if i have anything to say...

it's easter. i realized this year that i love easter 'cause it means spring, new beginnings, lots of bright colors and some chocolate. i hope you've gotten a chance to enjoy all of these things.

my March Madness bracket is doing so poorly that i think i'll stop paying attention. i've probably had my fill of basketball for a year, anyway.

reason #32 to be excited that school is over in august:
i can focus more on golf. i am not very good.

it sucks to be sick. especially on a beautiful, 70 degree weekend. at least my bed is comfy.

(jeremy, it's been awesome to meet you...sorry i've been all unfun and sickly. guess you'll have to come back)
